FOR THE GOLFERS...
For those wanting to know more about the golf Saturday & Sunday:
The highlight of the season is nearly upon us and for those of you lucky enough to be playing in Mark’s Captains final (and caddies of course) here are the golf details.
1.Click to see the finalists and their tee times for the Saturday, please note first tee time on the Saturday is 10.00 am and first tee time on the Sunday is 9.00 am. We are playing in 3 balls at 10 minute intervals on both days.
2. This is a 36 hole medal competition off the white tees off 95% of your course handicap.
3. You will play off your handicap on both days as of Saturday morning – ignore what is printed on the cards on Sunday morning – the system isn’t perfect – hand your signed and double checked scorecard to the 18th green volunteer at the end of your rounds.
4. The course will be closed to non-finalists for the 2 days.
5. If we lose a day to the weather Monday 28th August will be a contingency day.
6. The top 40 plus ties on the Saturday will make the cut but if you are within 7 shots of the leader you will also make the cut. The remaining finalists will be entered into the subsidiary event on the Sunday affectionately know as the ‘numpties cup’ ! All players will be expected to play on both days !
7. Sundays tee sheet will be populated for you on Saturday evening following round 1 so you don’t need to do anything – you will receive an e mail with your Sunday tee time. Top 3 scorers on day 1 will go off on the last tee time on Sunday etc. etc. so if you don’t want to be up early Sunday you know what you have to do !
8. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your tee times on both days as we will have photographs and gifts etc.
9. The 18th hole will be played to the chipping green to enhance the spectators experience and put even more pressure on the finalists ! The chipping green is now closed to protect it for the final.
10. Our resident announcer, Clive Read, will announce your name on the tee.
11. We are running a ‘nearest the pin in 2’ on the Sunday on the 18th green in memory of Darren Ogden which offers a significant prize.
12. The normal 18th green will be available to the finalists for chipping practise (if needed) !
13. In the event of a tie after 36 holes those involved will play the 1st, 16th, 17th and 18th and in the event of a tie after that there will be ‘sudden death’ over the same holes.
14. There will be a booklet for each finalist detailing pin positions which will be set by our Captain Mark Jones on both days.
15. There will be a live leader board at the 10th hut and in the clubhouse – what can go wrong ?
16. On the Sunday there will be a beer tent situated somewhere near the finishing hole for a free beer for finalists (and caddies).
17. Don’t forget our Captains final sweep which is being run in the bar area where you can ‘have a punt’ on the eventual winner.
18. The presentation will take place on Sunday evening around 7.30 – the prizes will be NTP in 2, best overall qualifier (John Moore), best score day 1, best score day 2, subsidiary winner, best overall runner up and of course best overall score/club champion. Note you can only win 1 prize.
Well that’s it folks if you have any questions please speak to one of the golf committee. All that remains is for you to get your swing and your head in gear in readiness for the big event.
Kind regards
Simon Butterworth and the Captains team.
